Freedom of speech is one of the most important aspects of western democracy. However, it is far from a conditional right and in a global world it must be exercised with regard to the respect of others. Whatever said may offend someone else. Does that imply that people should give up their right to say it? What is the link between peacebuilding and freedom of speech, and to what extent is the latter a source for violation?
