
Student Peace Prize laureates honored with Walk of Peace
Thursday the stage was set for the opening of the Walk of Peace in Jomfrugata in Trondheim city center. The Walk of Peace will honor the laureates of the Student Peace Prize, and their work.

-This is a day for celebrating, a day that leave traces in the city's history, said Mayor Rita Ottervik, at the opening of the Walk of Peace. -The city is humble and happy, and we are proud of the work ISFiT does.

Thursday morning Trondheim's new attraction opened, the Walk of Peace. Walk of Peace is an initiative from ISFiT and the Student Peace Prize, to honor the past, and future laureates of the Student Peace Prize.
-Walk of Peace will honor the winners of the Student Peace Prize, and the work they do, said president of ISFiT Jørgen Westrum Thorsen. -This is the world's only peace prize for students, from students.

One memorial plate for each of the Student Peace Prize laureates has been laid down, and new plates will be laid down for future laureates. The memorial plates are designed by NTNU student Åshild Herdlevær.
-It is great to see it finished, put into the ground, said the designer.
ISFiT and Student Peace Prize wants to give something back to Trondheim.
-Trondheim municipality has been amazing in this process, said Thorsen. -They have embraced the project in a way we had never foreseen.
Head of Tourism in Trondheim, Line-Vikrem Rosmæl, boasted Walk of Peace as a tourist attraction in the city.
-Walk of Peace will be a tourist attraction in Trondheim on the same level as the Old Town Bridge and Bakklandet, and with time it will perhaps be as large as the Nidaros Cathedral.
The Student Peace Prize is awarded every second year during ISFiT, and is awarded a student or a student organization that has distinguished itself in peace and human rights work.
-It is important to be seen. With the Walk of Peace the laureates of the Student Peace Prize, and their work will be seen, said the head of the Secretariat of the Student Peace Prize, Eirik Vikum. -ISFiT and the Student Peace Prize put their mark on the city with the Walk of Peace, adding the list even higher for future festivals. The Students in Trondheim take this challenge.
Also the laureate of the Student Peace Prize in 2009, Elkouria "Rabab" Amidane from Western Sahara, was pleased.
-It is amazing!
Friday 18th of February the 7th Student Peace Prize is awarded to Croatian Dusko Kostic. He awarded the prize for his work for the Roma in Croatia.
