Frequently Asked Questions

If you can't find the answer to your question here, you're always welcome to write to question[at]isfit.org, and we'll answer as best as we can.

Who can apply?

As long as you're above 18 years of age and a student at the time of the festival, you're welcome to apply. There is no upper age-limit, but unfortunately university-employees don't qualify as students.

What is the cost?

There is no participation-fee for ISFiT 2009 and both food and lodging is provided by the organizers. All you have to pay for as a participant is your travel to and from Trondheim, Norway, as well as travel-insurance and possibly visa-costs, according to the Norwegian embassy's policy. If you cannot afford the travel to Trondheim, you can apply for travel support on the bottom of the application-form.

What other scholarships can I apply for?

As we only have a limited amount of money to hand out through our travel support, we encourage you to look for legacies or scholarships that might support your travel. You should look around in your own local community and student-environment, but unfortunately we cannot help you with this research.

Where will I stay during the festival?

We encourage local families in Trondheim to host the ISFiT-participants in their homes. As far as possible each participant should have its own host-family, or even together with other participants. In this way we wish to give you a unique insight to the Norwegian culture and family-life, as well as the many cultural experiences during the festival.

Can I apply for the Dialogue Groups even if I am not from any of the chosen conflict areas?

No. We are aware of the interest and need for Dialogue Groups around the world, but unfortunately ISFiT do not have the capacity to invite other students or observers than those belonging to the specific conflict areas chosen. The conflict areas this year were chosen taking into consideration areas that have not been given the opportunity for participation before, and the specific goals of the Dialogue Groups 2009. This year 8 students from each of the three conflict areas; Jerusalem, Cyprus and Georgia/Abkhazia, will be invited.

Can I apply to both the Workshops and the Dialogue Groups?

Yes, if you are a student from Jerusalem, Cyprus or Georgia/Abkhazia you can apply for both. However, you will only be invited to participate in one of them. The Dialogue Groups will start 10 days before the festival (on the 9th of February) and continue into the festival.
