The Culture Section

ISFiT is a combination of a festival and a conference, the culture section is responsible for that part of the program which is the festival. ISFiT is an international festival and a meeting place and the cultural program is characterized by this. We would like to offer a varied program that satisfies both our international audience and Trondheim's population in general. The culture program creates an arena where the participants get the opportunity to break down cultural barriers. ISFiT is a non profit festival.

A diversity of concerts is arranged during ISFiT, both at the Student Society and external scenes, like the Nidaros Cathedral. The concert gang book artists and bands of different magnitude to the festivals many scenes. We search for both local and international artists to demonstrate the festivals diversity.

Plenary Sessions

ISFiT is a place where the leaders of today meet the leaders of tomorrow. During ISFiT, several plenary sessions will be held addressing different perspectives on global health. The plenary sessions are a place to be inspired, a place to learn, a place to discuss global issues and a place to be heard. Furthermore, the plenary sessions are a place where the students of today can influence and inspire world leaders in politics and academia. It is a place where you and I can set the agenda.

Speakers at previous ISFiT conferences include His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Dr. Johan Galtung, former Director-General of the WHO Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Dr. José Ramos-Horta and Professor Wangari Maathai.

Performing Arts

Performing arts is important for the breadth of cultural facilities. At a performing art event the participants have the opportunity to get to know each other at another level than what they will while working in a workshop. Together they can experience being challenged in their attitudes by a play, or get a good laugh during a stand-up show.

Art

During the festival there will be many art exhibitions that will examine both the festival's theme and relevant art. We want to use all of Trondheim as our canvas, and have exhibitions everywhere, from Solsiden by the harbour area to the Student Society.

Ceremony

An Opening ceremony, Peace Price ceremony, and Ending ceremony will be arranged during ISFiT. These ceremonies help frame the festival and give it a solemn lift. The festival opens and ends with ceremonies in the Great Hall at the Student Society. The Peace Price ceremony will be held in Olavshallen and it contributes to create additional awareness of the winner of the Student Peace Prize.
