The Experience

Jørgen Westrum Thorsen

We have come close to halfway through the festival, laid behind us the first weekend, got settled in and accustomed to weather and routines, and hopefully had a blast so far. We have experienced many fantastic concerts and informative and engaging plenary sessions. We have seen creative and innovating art, had a few (or hopefully, many) laughs and maybe made a couple of new friends.

To create movement

Karoline Fossland

With only a week to go before the festival, ISFiT 2011’s initiative on conflict resolution, The Dialogue Groups, has begun. 22 participants are gathering today at a cottage in Røros, to work on conflict resolution with dialogue as an instrument. The students come from 3 different areas of conflict, Northern Ireland, Armenia / Azerbaijan and Rwanda.

A Cultural Refill

Elin Saunes

The festival program is finally released. ISFiT 2011 has done a fantastic job of putting together a cultural program where the main criteria has been quality over quantity, and that it should be something for everyone. In my opinion, we have succeeded. There will be ten days of cultural refill for all of ISFiT 2011's audiences, participants, officials and Trondheim's population.

Paralyzing fever?

Eline Hansen Næset

It is easy to find health related challenges in our world today. However, what if one of the biggest challenges is not the diseases themselves, but rather a passivity and lack of will to act?

The host’s significance to ISFiT

Eivind Berstad

Trondheim has in numerous ways played an important role in realizing ISFiT in the last 20 years. What impresses me the most is how the population of Trondheim every other year opens their homes for the international participants at ISFiT.

Doesn’t aids concern you?

Åshild Klepsvik

Aids kills about ten times more people in Africa than armed conflicts does. Almost 5000 people died of aids every single day in 2009. That is the same amount of people that lives in an average Norwegian small town. HIV has infected about 60 million people during the 30 years the virus has been known, today almost half of them are dead.

“8 signs that you have a health problem”

Silje Helene Nilsen

”8 sign that you have a health problem”, ”This is how an orgasm feels”, ”Do you drink too much milk?”, “Madonna starts her own fitness franchise”, “Lose weight using hypnosis”, “Gender equality leads to suicide among men”. An ordinary morning in November, this is the headlines that meets you in the Norwegian tabloid press, online and on paper.

Fedme - hvem har ansvaret?

Kaia Holen Lovas

The festival is being built

Karoline Fossland

Over night, ISFiT has grown from just 80 to over 300 functionaries. The functionaries are the voluntary students who organize and plan the program for ISFiT 2011.

ISFiT is now entering a new phase. This semester is the time when the festival is to be built. It is built by hundreds of dedicated and hard working students, which in creative and inspiring methods create one of the worlds largest international student festivals. ISFiT is an arena for big thoughts and ideas. We nurture the will to think in new ways in combination with thorough results. By giving each functionary a mix of trust and responsibility we truly become a creative festival.
