Dialogue Africa
The ISFiT Dialogue Groups 2007 have now been reorganized and we have become a part of the organization Building Peaces as Dialogue Africa. We are working on project development and planning, and have chosen a new leader and defined new areas of responsibility.
After a successful dialogue seminar in Røros, the ISFiT Dialogue
participants used the ten last days in Trondheim to plan and concretise
their own projects. The work period resulted in plans of a number of new
dialogue seminars in their home countries.
Dialogue Africa wish to enlighten the forgotten conflicts in Africa and
contribute to peace building through information distribution and
cooperation with local student leaders. We believe that students can make a
difference, and our work mainly consist of promoting dialogue as a tool
for conflict management in Africa, as well as here in Norway. We are
therefore working to follow up the participants from the dialogue seminar
and their new projects, and are in time hoping to expand our network to a
«African Dialogue Network».
During the festival the dialogue group was visited and trained by Clem van
Wyk from Global Peace and Leadership, earlier The Desmond Tutu Peace Center,
in South-Africa. A follow-up seminar for both the participants and the
facilitator team is planned in September in South-Africa, and this is, at
the time, our largest part goal. We will take part in the organizations
«Training for trainers»-seminar, to develop our and our African colleagues
competence in teaching others of dialogue as a method for conflict
solution.
